Differential diagnosis of hypertension, diagnosis of pheochromocytoma

Preparation
For the plasma fractionated metanephrines test, the patient must avoid alcohol and smoking starting at least 12 hours before sample collection. During blood collection, the patient should be lying down or seated for at least 20 minutes and relaxed. Morning collection after an overnight fast is recommended. If these conditions cannot be met, the sample is collected and a note is added to the report after testing.
