Sexually transmitted diseases test

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are a group of diseases that can be transmitted through unprotected sexual contact, blood and blood products, or from mother to child; they mainly affect the genital organs but can also affect other organs, and in most cases they may progress without symptoms.

Chlamydia

It is a bacterial infection of the reproductive system and one of the most common sexually transmitted infections. About 75% of patients have no symptoms.

Trichomonas infection

It is caused by a parasite called Trichomonas vaginalis and is one of the most common curable sexually transmitted diseases. About 70% of infected people have no symptoms.

Ureaplasma and mycoplasma infections

These are sexually transmitted microorganisms that cause genital and urinary tract infections in both women and men.

Condyloma acuminata (HPV)

It is caused by human papillomavirus, a DNA virus. Non-oncogenic types 6 and 11 are responsible for genital warts and are highly contagious.

STD10 PCR diagnostic panel

The STD10 test is a molecular method that looks for the DNA of sexually transmitted, disease-causing agents. The panel tests for 10 agents:

  • Chlamydia trachomatis DNA
  • Neisseria gonorrhoeae DNA
  • Ureaplasma urealyticum DNA
  • Ureaplasma parvum DNA
  • Mycoplasma hominis DNA
  • Mycoplasma genitalium DNA
  • Trichomonas vaginalis DNA
  • Treponema pallidum (Syphilis) DNA
  • Haemophilus ducreyi DNA
  • Herpes simplex Type 1 DNA
