CALR SEDA (9) (Blood (EDTA))

Test code DL 228 · Whole Blood (EDTA)

We will e-mail you the prices and preparation instructions for the tests on your list.

What is this test for?

The CALR gene provides instructions for making a multifunctional protein called calreticulin. Through calcium regulation and other mechanisms, calreticulin is thought to play a role in controlling gene activity, cell growth and division (proliferation), movement (migration), attachment of cells to one another (adhesion) and programmed cell death (apoptosis). The function of this protein is important for immune system function and wound healing. Changes in exon 9 of the CALR gene lead to the formation of an abnormal calreticulin protein. Our test screens for mutations in exon 9 of the CALR gene.
