Investigation of biotin deficiency symptoms (epilepsy, respiratory problems, skin rashes, alopecia) in newborns

Preparation
For this test, capillary blood must be collected from the heel in infants aged 0-1 month. Make sure the blood is applied only from the front side of the card so that the entire marked area is filled. For heel samples, use the lateral sides of the heel. After collection, dry the cards horizontally at room temperature for 2-3 hours, away from sunlight. This test is performed for newborn screening; for patients older than 1 month, the serum Biotinidase test is recommended.
